Synopsis
For decades in Castiadas, Sardinia, inmates sentenced to forced labor reclaimed thousands of hectares of malaria ridden marshland, turning punishment into transformation. Through sweeping images of today’s landscapes and reconstructions drawn from original records, the story reveals a prison system built not only on confinement, but on re education, redemption and reintegration into society.
